MBA Admission Procedure in IBA, University of Dhaka

Institute of Business Administration(IBA), university of Dhaka is celebrating it's 50 years excellence which is contributing a great role in business communication in Bangladesh. Therefore to get admitted into this institute is a dream and also challenge to every students come from any fields including Engineering, Agriculture, Business or Medicine.

The admission test is held by IBA twice in a year and the students must be eligible to sit for the exam.

Applicant Eligibility:

  • Minimum bachelor degree or its equivalent in any field including business, engineering, agriculture or medicine.
  • Only one third division is allowed in any public examination.
  • For O level examination, applicants must have passed at least 5 subjects (including mathematics), with a minimum of grade ‘D’ in each of these subjects.
  • For A Level examination, applicants must have passed at least 2 subjects, with a minimum of grade ‘D’ in both of these subjects.
  • Letter grades of O Level and A Level subjects are converted to grade points (A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1). Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated by averaging the grade points of the five best grades for O Level and the two best grades for A Level.
  • Minimum 7 points need to obtain to be calculated as below-








For all other certificates/degrees, equivalence will be determined by the Equivalence Committee of IBA.

Admission Test:

All applicants have to appear in admission test which is taken in two phases as one is Written test and another one is Interview.

Written Test
Applicants will be assessed the written test in the following subjects but they must obtain a minimum qualifying score in each area though there is no certain identified score.
  •  Language
  •  Mathematics
  • Analytical ability.

Interview
Based on written test the top merit students will be eligible to sit for interview.

Final Selection & Registration:

The final selection for admission will be based on scores obtained by an applicant in the Written Test and the Communication Test. Selected candidates should obtain the prescribed University Admission Form from the MBA Program Office and submit the completed form along with four passport-size and one stamp-size photographs and other documents as outlined in the form within the stipulated time to the MBA Program Office. After completion of the above formalities candidates will then have to pay the requisite fees as determined by IBA.

Foreign Applicants:

A foreign applicant having a total score of 650 or more in GMAT with minimum 30 percentile in verbal and 50 percentile in quantitative may be exempted from the Written Test. Exemption decisions will be made by IBA on a case-by-case basis. However, they will have to appear for an interview before the final selection is made.

Course Fee:

Fees are definitely to be determined by the authority of IBA, from past students it was known that course can be completed with money 80-90 thousand (approximately).


To qualify for the MBA degree, a student has to meet the following requirements:
  •     Completion of 20 courses and an internship program (equivalent to 63 credit hours)
  •     Passing of Internship with a minimum ‘C’ grade
  •     Passing of Comprehensive Examination with a minimum ‘C’ grade
  •     Passing of all courses individually and maintaining a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
